So far, none of these books have been taken on by an agent. I've shopped Justice Rising around a bit and received some positive feedback, but I took a break for a few months so I could focus on finishing Rumors of War.
Justice Rising Finished at 82,000 words Description: Rica is a skilled fighter, but growing up in a strict military school has drilled into her the habit of following orders, not giving them. Her military instructor doesn't believe she can break training and learn to lead, so she accepts his advice and is about to begin her career as an independent mercenary when her plans are interrupted. A heavenly being appears and indicates that she's the new queen of Norida by decree of the kingdom's god. Though baffled by why she was chosen, Rica has her marching orders. She's determined to learn her new duties as Queen and to do them well. But her High Ministers have ruled for the last twelve years since the death of the last king and are more intent on manipulating her into doing as they wish than in educating or obeying her. When Rica begins to resist their manipulations, two assassins attack her, and she realizes that some of her ministers and perhaps some of her guards want her dead. Rumors of War Second Draft, at 95,000 words Description: When one of Queen Rica's bodyguards kills a well-loved and seemingly innocent woman, her court begins to tear apart in pain and distrust. Rica works to mend the wounds even as she grieves, but the distrust is spreading. Rumors circulate throughout her country that she's a cruel usurper and isn't really a divinely-chosen queen at all. No matter what proof she gives, more rumors soon appear and renew the doubts against her. Rica's search for the source of the rumors reveals that the Emperor of Karella is behind both the rumors and the murder and intends to use the discord to soften her country up for invasion. She must find a way to fight the ever-shifting rumors that have discredited her and her supporters, resolve the threat of a visiting Lawari prince who uses the discord to demand that she marry him, and raise an army in time to stop the invasion from Karella.
